In May 2026, W. Brothers Kevin Elliott, Nigel Vines, Simon Archer and Nigel Clarke, together with their partners, and Bro. Steve Elliott travelled to South Wales for this year’s Lodge of Round Table gathering, hosted by Lodge of Round Table Cardiff No. 9549.

The weekend began in fine style with a superb Lodge meeting held in the magnificent main Temple at Cardiff Masonic Hall. The highlight of the evening saw Brother Steve James, Past National President of 41 Club, installed into the Chair of King Solomon. Around 25 brethren attended from Lodges of Round Table across the country, alongside an impressive Provincial presence which included the Provincial Grand Masters of South Wales and Gloucestershire, both ex-Tablers, together with two Assistant Provincial Grand Masters, Sword Bearers, Standard Bearers and many other Provincial Officers. It was, by all accounts, a truly memorable occasion.

While the brethren enjoyed the meeting, the ladies were treated to their own special event, including a meal and entertainment from Anthony Stewart Lloyd, a well-known local baritone with credits spanning West End musicals and opera, and, fittingly, also a Freemason.

Saturday brought a visit to the historic Cardiff Castle, followed by some free time in the afternoon. The ladies took full advantage of Cardiff’s shopping opportunities, while the lads explored some of the local hospitality and cuisine.

The Gala Dinner that evening was held at Cornerstones, a beautifully converted former chapel now serving as an elegant dining and entertainment venue. Anthony Stewart Lloyd once again impressed with his powerful vocals, while fellow Mason Deano Martini provided a wonderful soundtrack of Rat Pack classics throughout dinner. Luck also seemed to favour the Warwickshire and Worcestershire contingent, who enjoyed a particularly successful raffle haul featuring whisky, vodka and several bottles of wine.

Although no Lodge stepped forward on the night to host the 2028 event, rumours circulating over the weekend suggested that the brethren of Lincolnshire may yet answer the call.
